Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, is the cleaning sensation who rose to fame on Instagram. With more than four million followers, fans of the guru often share their own product recommendations and tips with one another, including how to clean bathroom grout.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one member asked for help cleaning her bathroom grout.

Carrie Griffin wrote: “Please can anyone tell me any tricks for cleaning tile grout in the bathroom? What tools and products do you use?

“I’m currently using a toothbrush and it is rubbish. Thanks in advance.”

Grout discolouration can occur for a number of reasons including improper cleaners as well as limescale building.

Mould can also build-up in tile grout, causing it to turn dark in colour.

Group members took to the comments to share their top tips on making grout clean again.

Sandra Allan commented: “Use Dettol Antibacterial Mould & Mildew Remover Spray. Just spray down the grout and watch the magic happen overnight.”

Lucy Turner added: “It’s amazing and so cheap from B&M. Then I use Pink Stuff paste and a toothbrush or a SonicScrubber is the best.”

Other fans suggested using a grouting pen to make the grout white again.

Emma Sly commented: “I use a toothbrush too. I went over all of it with one of those grouting pens afterwards. It says mould and mildew resistant so we will see but the grout looks brand new.”

Sharing a post on the same Facebook group, Michelle Ryan wrote: “I used this today…a tile grout whitener from The Range, £6.

“It’s made an amazing different.”

Natalie Bebb commented: “I used this last week I my bathroom was, I’d just moved in and the grout was awful. Can’t believe how much better it has made them.”

It is important to clean the grout thoroughly before using a grout pen to make sure any dirt or germs are removed.
