CALLING all WhatsApp users: there are some major changes in the works.

Details of seven new WhatsApp changes have been revealed – and they'll change the app forever.

WhatsApp is constantly working on new features, building and testing them inside the beta app.

And then the tech geeks at WABetaInfo dig into the app to reveal exactly what's going on.

Now seven big changes have been detailed that are already "under development", in testing or rolling out to the world.

That includes a tab for Communities – letting you create groups of groups – as well as the ability to edit texts that you've already sent.

Here are some of the biggest updates:

  • 1. Windows app redesign with an app sidebar to quickly reach chats, status updates, settings and profile
  • 2. New Communities tab to create groups of group chats
  • 3. The ability to edit text messages within 15 minutes of sending
  • 4. The ability to react to status updates
  • 5. Up to four different reactions can appear on chat bubbles
  • 6. Linking to captions when sharing status updates
  • 7. New features for WhatsApp Business (including reordering collections)

Sadly, some of these features might not make it to the app until months down the line.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp beta for your smartphone you need to go to Google Play on your Android and search for WhatsApp.

Scroll down the page until you see "Become a Beta Tester".

Tap the "I'm In" button and then click "Join" to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.
