Cleaning products can be extremely expensive, with different products to clean household items. The team at Essential Living has revealed everyday items to use to help keep on top of the mess which will not only save money but you will most likely have these items stored in your cupboards. According to Essential Living, there are a few household items to use to help you stay on top of the mess that comes with hosting Christmas dinner.

The good news is, there are a few “simple” tips that can help you keep on top of the cleaning ahead of the Christmas period.

Of course, this doesn’t mean spending copious amounts of money on specific cleaning products either.

Instead, the solution is most likely tucked away in one of your kitchen cupboards.

From dishwasher tablets to tea bags there are a host of household solutions, and this is how you use them.

Dishwasher tablets

Dishwasher tablets are designed to remove stains, dissolve grease and tackle hard water.

It shouldn’t be surprising to hear that they can be used to clean things beyond the dishwasher.

Any brand of dishwasher tablets can be used for this hack.

How to clean using dishwasher tablets

Cleaning experts from Essential Living said: “Place a dishwasher tablet in your tray and fill it with boiling hot water and leave it to soak for a few hours and the grease should wipe away with ease.

“Remove the racks and place in a large plastic container.”

The experts added: “Add a couple of dishwasher tablets, and cover the racks with hot water.”

Dishwasher tablets can also be used to clean your pans and shelves too.

Leave the tray to soak overnight and in the morning wipe them down with a soft cloth, rinse and dry.

Tea bags

Tea bags can be used to clean a range of items.

With everything from rusty pans to glass surfaces left spotless after being cleaned with just one brewing bowl of black tea.

The trick is guaranteed to clean up items and surfaces around the home.

All that is needed for that homemade cleaning solution is boiling water, tea bags, a large glass bowl and an empty spray bottle.

How to clean using tea bags

Cleaning rusty pans with tea will banish the thick residue in no time, leaving kitchen utensils looking brand new.

The cleaning expert said: “To keep pots and pans rust-free, simply rub a damp, used tea bag around the surface after you’ve washed your kitchenware.”

They added: “The tannins in the tea will form a protective layer that prevents rust.”

When cleaning your glass surfaces, put a “couple of used tea bags” in a spray bottle and top up with water to create the solution.

Use this sparingly on glass surfaces and follow up with a “dry microfibre cloth” to remove any stubborn fingerprints.

Microfibre cloths are ideal for use on shiny surfaces prone to smears and smudges.

The streak-free results which can be achieved when using these blended fibre rags make them ideal for polishing glass surfaces.
