I solved my foggy car lights using stuff I found in the kitchen for 30p – here’s how to do it

CAR headlights are easy to forget, but are hugely important for driving safely at night and in poor weather.

Many older cars suffer foggy headlights, where the outside of their plastic cover dulls over time.

This can lead to dim headlights and a greater chance of other drivers not being able to see you properly.

But replacing entire headlights units it a costly business – especially more modern headlights with LED technology.

Instead, people have taken to TikTok to show how you can clean headlights using common items you'll find in your kitchen.

cocolove_xo is one of them, who has uploaded a video watched thousands of times already.

The video has the caption "TikTok made me do it" and shows a foggy headlight about to be cleaned.

Using a lemon cut in half with baking soda poured on, the lemon is used like a sponge to rub the juice and baking soda onto the headlight.

After some swirling, the solution is wiped away to reveal an as-new headlight beneath.

With most people having baking soda in the cupboard and the average lemon costing around 30p, this is a seriously cheap fix.

And unlike some car hacks you find on social media, this one seems to really work.

Multiple people have been taking to TikTok try the same thing, with most ending up very happy with the results.

It's worth pointing out that this will only work if the fog on your headlight is on the outside – misty or steamed-up headlights on the inside will require a different repair.

People have taken to the comments to show their amazement at the lemon and baking soda trick.
