TikTok cleaner @vameamaro91 admits to being a “clean freak” and reveals how she gives her hotel room a quick clean as soon as she arrives. reveals the four steps the cleaner takes to give her “peace of mind” throughout her stay.

TikTok cleaning superstar and housekeeper Vanesa Amaro has more than 3.6 million followers on the app who flock to her account to hear her cleaning hacks.

Vanesa posted a video earlier this year showing how to clean a hotel room you’re staying in, and it has racked up more than 101,000 likes.

She said: “I will show you the things that I do when I first get to my hotel room.”

Vanesa admits to bringing her own cleaning supplies when she stays at a hotel so she can relax knowing that it is clean.

On the screen, the TikToker shows she has brought a 24-hour sanitising spray, disinfecting wipes and a microfibre cloth.

She then gets to business and starts cleaning the room as she normally would, starting with the bed.

Check for bed bugs

First things first, Vanesa checks the bed for bed bugs.

Bed bugs are most often found in mattress seams, carpets, rugs, and any little crevices.

These insects live on furniture or bedding and can travel from place to place in luggage – so it’s important to check the room for signs of bed bugs before you get cosy.

Signs of bedbugs include spots of blood on bedding or small brown spots (bed bug poo) on bedding.

Disinfect surfaces

Vanesa then likes to “disinfect and sanitise all surfaces”.

Use the wipes and spray and tackle the nightstands, remote controls, the phone and anything that “gets touched”.

Don’t forget the light switches, door handles… and pretty much everything else!

You’d think you can spot a sparkling clean bathroom from a grubby one, but you can’t see bacteria and germs.

Vanesa tackles the sink and everything around there before cleaning the toilet too, just to be safe.

If you want to be really perfect, you could also clean the shower or bath and the floor with disinfectant wipes or spray.

Sheets and towels

Finally, the most shocking part of Vanesa’s admission is to do with the sheets and towels.

She can’t wash the sheets and towels from the room when she gets there, so she brings her own!

This links to the bed bug and other bugs, insects and germs that could be lingering if the cleaning staff didn’t quite do their job up to Vanesa’s standard.
