Antique side hustle pays off with £25 organ selling for £700 on eBay

A couple are celebrating after picking up an antique organ for £25 which they were able to sell on for £700, and are encouraging people to have a go themselves.

‘Rob and Melissa’ have racked up 68,000 followers on TikTok with their thrift shopping and antique reselling side hustle tricks and tips, and their latest video showed them making a huge profit from one of their finds, reports The Daily Express US.

While the organ sold for a lot of money in the end, the antique did not originally receive any offers when it was first posted in 2019 after they picked it up in a yard sale.

It has since been in storage until they put it on the market again and hit the jackpot on eBay. The couple, from the US, filmed themselves dropping the organ off at the buyer’s home.

The TikTok clip was captioned “This was such a cool piece and I’m glad it found a great new home”.

They wrote: “Time to drive it from Florida to New Mexico. We were already heading out of town and the buyer was only 30 minutes off our route.”

The couple revealed the buyer wanted to purchase the organ as it was exactly the same one his grandmother had. According to the video, it was a “sentimental” purchase as the buyer used to play the instrument when he was younger.

“He said he used to play with her and so it was really sentimental for him.”

At the end of the video, Rob and Melissa wrote: “Love when we connect people to the items they are looking for. Even if it takes four years.”
