The corporate rush to the cloud has created a demand for specialized talent.

Job postings with cloud-related keywords have skyrocketed, and employer interest in "cloud engineers" has risen 31% in three years, according to an Indeed report from 2018.

Currently, the cloud computing market revolves around Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as an ecosystem of smaller cloud computing startups. Other major tech companies like IBM are investing in their cloud business, too, and firms like Salesforce and ServiceNow have become cloud software powerhouses as well.

But it's not just tech companies. Companies in finance and retail are also on the lookout for cloud engineers and consultants. For example, JPMorgan Chase and Chewy have both been investing in their cloud operations.

Companies are required to disclose information, including salary (or in some cases, salary ranges), when they hire foreign workers under the H1-B visa program, giving insight into what these major companies are willing to shell out for tech talent. So, to get a sense of what cloud salaries are like these days, Business Insider analyzed the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification's 2019 disclosure data for permanent and temporary foreign workers to find out what companies pay talent in key cloud roles including salespeople, engineers, and architects.
